Sabbath Saturday Advent Retreat

This registration is for the Meditation Retreat, only. You do not need to pre-register for the Advent Spiral, which is open and free to all.

Prepare for Christmas "from the inside..."

Sabbath Saturday Advent Retreat will consist of two events. You can attend one or both events the same day.

*1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Meditation Retreat- **suggested love offering, $20.00
Led by our Unity Prayer Chaplains, this retreat will feature four approaches to meditation: guided meditation, coloring meditation, chanting and silent meditation with mantra. The word "Advent" means 'coming" or "arrival." This is a wonderful way to stay centered during the holiday season and all for something deeper to emerge around the birth of the Christ within.

*You can pre-register for this event by clicking to sign up below.
**If you cannot give a love offering you will not be turned away. All proceeds will be used to improve our Unity Prayer Room.

5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Advent Spiral- free for all to attend
This is Unity's Second annual Advent Spiral. We had such a positive response from the people who attend last year's Advent Spiral, that we decided to make it an annual event! The Advent Spiral is a festival that is unique in our calendar year. There are no presentations, explanations or speeches.  Instead, we sit in silence in a darkened room, listening to beautiful music as a candle is lit in the center of a spiral of evergreen boughs; a symbol of life amidst the dead of winter. One at a time each person will take a candle into the center of the spiral and light it, then place the candle in an apple somewhere along the path. The lights brightens the path for those who come after. We each walk alone, at our own pace, in our own way. This seasonal observance has been kept by people around the world from all paths and beliefs; as autumn gives way to winter, we prepare for the return of the sun, the lengthening of days, and for the insights that we can gain from reflection on the year that has been and on what may be to come. The “spiraling” represents going inward, during the darkest time of the year — and kindling your own inner light. To us, where the winter is dark and long, it’s a significant act.
