"Spiritual Economics" class with Rev. Mary

Newcomers are welcome to join us for this class series based on the Unity classic by Rev. Eric Butterworth, Spiritual Economics: The Principles and Process of True Prosperity. Books are $14 and available for purchase in church. Please see our January-February newsletter for more information. Note: The class will not meet on Feb. 28. Next class: March 7.


"The How of Happiness" class with Greg Bravo
Selected Sundays and Wednesdays
Sunday -- after service; Wednesday -- 3 to 5 p.m.

Based on the book, The How of Happiness by Sonja Lyubomirsky. "The How of Happiness is a different kind of happiness book, one that offers a comprehensive guide to understanding what happiness is, and isn't, and what can be done to bring us all closer to the happy life we envision for ourselves. Using more than a dozen uniquely formulated happiness-increasing strategies, The How of Happiness offers a new and potentially life-changing way to understand our innate potential for joy and happiness as well as our ability to sustain it in our lives."

Rev. Therese Donlan Lee is an ordained Unity minister currently serving Unity Southeast Church in Kansas City, Missouri as a Transitional Ministry Consultant. She is certified by the Association of Unity Churches International as a Peace Maker and a facilitator of the 4-Why's Vision, Mission, Core Values and Strategic Intentions process. Therese is also a member of the Spiritual Education and Enrichment (S.E.E.) faculty at Unity Institute. She travels the country, facilitating S.E.E. classes, the “Making Peace with Our Past” process, 4 Whys process, Board training and retreats; and guest speaking at Unity spiritual centers. Therese and her minister husband, Rev. Tom Lee, founded the Nehemiah Retreats at Unity Village.

Regular Ongoing Events, Meetings, etc.

Emotional Freedom Techniques practice group - February dates are: Monday, Feb. 8 and Monday, Feb. 22 -- 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The group is focusing on overcoming procrastination. Newcomers are always welcome!

Prayer Shawl Gatherings - Next gathering: Tuesday, March 2 -- 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please call or email the church before coming to confirm that the group is meeting, due to the winter weather, etc.

A Course In Miracles - Tuesdays at 5:30 pm. Contact John Scott, our "ACIM" group facilitator, through our church office for more information.

Unity Prayer Chaplains - Prayer is the heart of Unity Church in Buffalo. Our Prayer Chaplains meet one Thursday per month. Chaplains are available for one-on-one prayer support after our Sunday services. Our Chaplains do four things: hold spiritual space with you, lovingly listen, pray one-on- one with you, and hold what is heard in absolute confidence. For more information on our Chaplains program, please call or email our church office and leave a message for Rev. Allaurah Olson. Next Chaplains meeting: Thursday, March 4.

Noon Prayer & Meditation Service - Wednesdays at noon.

VOICE-Buffalo Core Team - Please contact our church office and leave a message for Anna Kay France if you're interested in VOICE-Buffalo. The 2010 Feast of Tables will take place on Saturday, March 6 at the Catholic Academy of West Buffalo. 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visit www.voice-buffalo.org for more information.

Marvelous Metaphysical Movies - One Friday night per month, from September through May. Next movie: March 26: "When the Mountains Tremble" (2004, no rating). The astonishing story of Rigoberta Menchú, winner of the 1992 Nobel Peace Prize. This 1984 documentary tells the story of the uprising of Guatemalan Indians and peasants against a military-run government. It tells the story of the struggles of the people labeled "communists" by Ronald Reagan and the U.S. government for upsetting the oligarchy in this banana republic that was earning American fruit companies so much money. PeopleArt Coffeehouse - Fridays at 9 p.m. Featuring performances by local and regional folk musicians, singers and songwriters -- all original music. $5. For more information, call Bob Stalder at (716) 878-4041.

Sunday Celebration Services - Sundays, 10:00 am. See Rev. Mary's lesson title information on our homepage.

Reiki "spot treatments" - the 1st Sunday of each month, right after our service, with members of our Reiki team. Next Reiki spot treatments: March 7. Contact Peg Crawford, Reiki Master/Teacher, through our church office about Reiki activities and classes.

Church Potlucks - 4 times per year, after the Sunday service. Next Potluck: February 27 (in conjunction with Rev. Therese Lee's visit and "The Four Whys" process).

Friends of Vienna - Friends of Vienna is a nonprofit organization that has been presenting classical chamber music concerts in Buffalo for over 32 years. Website: www.friendsofvienna.org The series is on break until the fall of 2010.
