UNITY of BUFFALO – A Positive Path for Spiritual Living
is now accepting applications for the part-time position of
MUSIC DIRECTOR/PIANIST
Responsibilities include:
- Selecting and scheduling music and musicians for services in consultation with the Senior Minister. Sunday service is at 10:00 a.m., must plan to arrive by 9 a.m. to prepare for the service. Looking for someone to work three to four Sundays per month.
- Directing our UnityCommUnity Choir, and working with smaller groups of vocalists to prepare them for contemporary Sunday morning service and occasional other special services. There is some flexibility in scheduling the choir rehearsals, usually one evening per week September through April or May. Choir usually does not meet over the summer.
- Playing the piano and/or keyboard for Sunday services.
- Working cooperatively with the minister, choir, church staff and congregation.
Our ideal candidate will be:
- A talented lead musician and song leader with a range of musical knowledge that includes classical, contemporary and sacred music;
- Familiar with, or open to learning about “Posi” music (learn more about “Posi” - positive music at www.empowerma.com)
- Skilled at directing the choir and bringing out the best in people;
- Someone with connections in the community to schedule special talent;
- A person with excellent people skills in working with the minister, choir and congregation;
- A joyful, flexible musician who is committed to co-creating with the minister an experience each week that deepens our connection with Spirit and blesses our loving, inclusive spiritual community;
- A well-grounded, spiritually mature and professional team player who values humor and fun as much as quality and excellence.
